SHOP UPDATED.

okay my shop has been officially re-opened! i just put up lots of new stuff including totes made from a WWII era stretcher, a big ol' mail bag tote, two made with the most beautiful army green colored antique wool. i feel like lots of these will make really great fall bags. the wool ones in particular!

SHOP UPDATE TODAY.

my etsy shop will be re-opening in a few hours! i'm really excited about this.

i've decided to change the update time to 6pm (eastern time) so i'll have enough time to make sure everything is all set.

shop re-opening details

thank you to everyone who has been so patient while i've been on my summer forestbound hiatus. it was much needed and i finally feel like i'm ready to start sewing nonstop once again.

i am going to be re-opening my etsy shop this coming thursday at 5pm. my first update isn't going to be that big - only around 10 bags - but there will be some good ones in there! i've been collecting some really beautiful fabrics over the past month or two and i'm excited about the bags that they've been turned into.

(the above photos are just a few little peeks at what's to come in a few days)

sunday september 20

you know how there are some moments where things just fall into place and everything seems to go just right? well, very early this morning i experienced just that. i've been on the hunt for the perfect wool blanket for what seems like years now. a hudson bay blanket has always been at the top of my list but i just could never bring myself to pay what they go for on ebay. but then while wandering around the flea market earlier today this beauty stopped me in my tracks. this was by far one of my favorite flea market moments. it's exactly what i've been looking for! i even love the little bit of shabbiness on the edges. i have a feeling this blanket is going to go everywhere with me over the next six months.
i think i have an unhealthy obsession with blankets. i was very close to bringing home 3 army blankets and 2 camp blankets just today. who needs that many blankets? along with the hudson bay i let myself purchase just this one army blanket.. i don't see many with names printed on them! and cotton hemming!
oh and let's not forget about quilts. like many others i have a soft spot for nice old quilts. francesca and i stumbled upon this one a few weeks ago while spending the weekend on cape cod and i just couldn't leave it behind. it quickly became one of my most treasured possessions (in part due to how incredible it smells now that francesca washed it up nice for me!). the colors are perfect and there's even all this beautiful hand printing.. which i can only assume to be the names of the ladies who took part in sewing the quilt many years ago.
okay that's enough about blankets for one day. i have a blog post lined up for tomorrow that will give a little sneak peak of the bags i'll have for my shop re-opening later this week. oh and there will be more details about the actual day and time of the re-opening.. i still haven't quite figured that part out yet!

sunday september 13

this weekend i can't stop thinking about finding an old barn, renovating it, and calling it home. but we all know that won't happen for a good while so until then i'll just keep stocking up on old wool blankets and sets of antlers and nice wooden crates that will someday make their way into a cozy old barn home. and of course i'll continue to look at photos like these ones until i drive myself crazy and can't resist any longer.

against nature.

ryan matthew's beautifully designed shop, against nature, is opening this friday in new york. if you're in the area you should really go have a look. a select few totes of mine will be there alongside ryan's own incredible leatherwork.
