foraging.

most of my days are spent looking at plants/vegetables so i'm just in the habit of noticing what is around me when we are out and about. this came in handy yesterday while benny was digging through records at some yard sale and i noticed the fruit on the mulberry tree above me was ripe! so i got motivated and convinced benny to walk down to another mulberry closer to our house and it turned out that one had just ripened too! we harvested a few heaping handfulls which i am hoping to bake with today.

there's a really wonderful project hosted by a local organization where fruit trees are planted on urban sites and then cared for by community members. access to the fruit is open to everyone! which is pretty incredible. the intention being that the community connects both with each other and with fresh produce grown in their neighborhood. well, there are a bunch of sites around jamaica plain and i'm really, really excited about it.

we found some sour cherries last night that we turned into a syrup and ate over ice cream. so good! hopefully the rain will stop next weekend so we can attempt to find more of this delicious urban fruit.

i couldn't resist posting this photo that ashley took of francesca and i at renegade a few weeks ago. it just makes me so happy! especially since she is moving far away from me come the end of the summer - this photo will be the perfect one to look at when i'm missing her! aww shucks.

i know i've posted about rackk and ruin's beautiful jewelry before.. but i have yet to mention how much i love her blog.

that's probably because for whatever reason i never write fashion related posts.. but for real she finds some of the best photos on the internet. by far one of my favorite fashion blogs!

also - my boyfriend introduced me to gnarlitude last night. i spent a good hour or two looking through her posts and she quickly became another favorite blog!

of course this is all just feeding into my obsession with black clothing. one of the only downsides of this obsession is that when all my clothes are piled on my bedroom floor i can never distinguish one thing from the other! you'd think that would be motivation for me to clean and be tidy but nah.. that'll probably never happen.

d.s. & durga

i was so excited to see refinery 29 do a little feature on d.s. & durga yesterday. i'm not really one for perfumes but their products are just so incredible - i have become a very loyal wearer of their scents (siberian jasmine being my favorite!).

it was so nice to get little peek into their lives and their live/work space. a very inspiring couple indeed.

renegade weekend.

this past weekend was probably one of the best i've had in a long time. it was really wonderful to finally show off how hard i've been working for months.. but even better than that was getting to meet SO many incredible people. it was definitely a heart warming few days.

i was pretty much in an overwhelmed frenzy the whole time.. so of course i forgot to take any legit pictures. but lucky for me i had francesca there the whole time and she was able to take a few nice ones for us.

so now there will finally be shop updates! i put some things up earlier today and will put a few more up by days end. i'll have new bags and jewelry periodically over the next few months along with a few other exciting projects (most notably a potential collaboration with one of my favorite people). so go here and see if there's anything you like! i hope there may be.

renegade preview.

thank you to everyone for being so patient with me while i have no items in my shop! i promise that i'll be doing a big update soon.. and that it'll be stocked for the rest of the summer.

since i've been working real hard to prepare for renegade (this weekend in brooklyn! come say hi!) i thought i'd post a few photos of some of the things that i'll have.

there will be 50+ bags of various sizes, styles, and colors to choose from! some of the styles are new to forestbound.. and like always every single bag is one of a kind. the one above is made from very, very old linen that i salvaged from an old british postal service bag. it's amazing in person!

this white bag is actually a special project that i've been working on that was inspired by an idea suggested to me by a friend. it's a picnic bag! the bag itself is huge and inside you will find everything you need for a picnic - blanket, plates, cups, bottle opener, etc. i've been collecting all the components over the past few weeks.. and i'm excited about it! you'll have to come to renegade to see all the details. it's the only one i have, too!

i'll also have new jewelry - a bunch of these layered chain necklaces that i am so crazy about. and also some hand cast pieces.

of course i still have a ton of work to do (like finish my display.. which i think will look good once it's done - i'll make sure to take a photo) before francesca and i leave friday evening. time to get back to work!
