part of the reason why i wanted to take a little break away from my etsy shop this month was so that i could focus more of my attention on a few custom orders that have been on my to-do list for too long.

this one that i just finished up is for my roommate's bff. he requested a pretty simple tote but asked for blue and white ticking fabric as a liner. i mainly just use sturdy beige cotton for all of my liners - but luckily my best girl francesca had recently labored over an old pillow she found (taking it apart, plucking out all the feathers, soaking the cotton for a very long time) and graciously offered me some of the fabric. i think it works perfectly with the olive green canvas and the leather handles.

i also added a removeable, adjustable cotton shoulder strap just to make it a bit more utilitarian.

being able to hand-deliver a bag to someone is a really, really nice feeling. it's only happened to me a few times in the past but it's always such a special treat. oh and later in the week i'll get to do this again for the wonderful julia! so excited.

ora bags.

i've been a big fan of ora bags for awhile now - especially their beautiful, beautiful backpacks! but i have to say that what really sold it for me are the images on their website. have you been there? you should go. amazing bags interspersed with farm animals! seriously, chickens are a sure way to my heart.

a shop update, new bag style, and a little announcement.

okay so i just updated my shop with 11 new bags! there are a bunch of larger items, but also a few smaller hip pouches. there are also a bunch of sale items still in the shop.. so go take a look!

i've come up with a new unisex bag style that i am pretty crazy about. it's a good-sized weekend bag! there's a nice zip top, long leather handle, and it rests comfortably at the hip. you can be sure that there's many more of these to come!

on to the most important part of this update - starting this sunday july 19th my shop will be closed for about 4-6 weeks. i work 2 other jobs ontop of doing forestbound stuff and i've finally decided to take a little break for myself. i'll still be working on custom orders (the ones i currently have.. not yet taking new orders) and doing some occasional sewing, but for the most part i need to just enjoy the summer and not get stressed out about taking a day off! also, my best friend is moving across the country in a little over a month so i need to spend as much time with her as possible.

there will be a huge shop re-opening update and i'll definitely be posting about it. i'll still keep updating my blog and my flickr, so i won't totally disappear from internet land! i just need a little break from working 7 days a week. especially now that it's nice outside!

i feel like francesca and i have been biting our nails in anticipation of this video for weeks on end! i am so, so happy it came out today and am blown away by what an amazing job tara did. you should really go watch it!

i've been sewing, sewing, sewing in preparation for a big shop update that happened earlier today. thank you to everyone who purchased a new bag! there's still some good stuff left and i'm planning on adding a few more white totes/shoulder bags between now and sunday.

i don't want to keep complaning about the rain but seriously? this is too much! especially since i spend 4 out of my 5 workdays outside! no matter what the weather is! total bummer dude.
