FINDS FROM THIS WEEKEND

The flea market was good to me this weekend. A nice little knife with a stacked leather handle and leather sheath, a pair of WWII combat boots that are my size (I've been searching for a pair of these forever but they are always so big), WWI era canvas stretcher, and and assortment of other treasures that are still in the back of my car.

GULF RESTORATION FUNDRAISER

My dear friend Meighan has worked hard to organize a truly incredible fundraiser -- 80+ artists have donated work which will go into a Big Cartel shop today at 12pm PST. 1oo% of the proceeds are going to the Gulf Restoration Network. I am donating the bag pictured above -- simple tote made with antique farm feedsack canvas, leather shoulder straps, blue & white ticking liner.

You can get more info about the fundraiser Meighan's blog HERE and visit the Big Cartel shop HERE once it opens at 12pm.

RECENT PURCHASES.

Contents of an order I just made with Blackbird. I've been on the hunt for the perfect axe for a long time and was so excited to find the one up there. The Fedex man can't come quick enough.. I'm going crazy in anticipation of having it in my hands!

OF ALL TIME

I can remember almost all of the bags I've made over the past few years -- but this one has stuck with me like no other. Made from incredibly soft leather and a real, real old Maine fire station banner.

WEEKEND

Spent the weekend in New Hampshire -- went to the dreamiest estate sale EVER (6 old barns filled to the brim with beautiful objects that hadn't been touched in years), picked strawberries, saw a huge fox run by, read by the pool, drove around back roads during the golden hour, discovered that the mysterious bag of fabric I found under a hay pile at the estate sale was actually a HUGE canvas tent from the 40's, found a pile of WWII era leather Russian rifle slings in perfect condition, and of course spent time with the best dude I've ever known.. my dad.

THURSDAY JUNE 17

I've had many people inquire about bags made with the above fabric. Unfortunately I was only able to find a small amount of this beautiful material.. meaning that there will only be 2 of these bags left to sell.

Both of them are in the style shown above - leather bottomed, double buckles, short handles, adjustable/removable shoulder strap (comes with 2 straps.. one cotton, one leather), lined with beige cotton. They will both be in my Etsy shop tonight at 8pm.

NEW FAVORITES.

Recently acquired some real nice jewelry from Digby & Iona. Been wearing those crossed rifles and that two-fingered ring constantly over the past few days. They work perfectly with everything - especially love the simplicity of the ring and the way it looks with my tattoo.

If you're not familiar with Aaron's work you should really take a look - he creates beautiful pieces inspired by days of olde. Plus his craftsmanship is impeccable and his studio looks damn good (see a tour here).

RENEGADE WEEKEND

Spending this past weekend in Brooklyn was real nice for lots of reasons. The main one being that my booth at Renegade just happened to be right next to the booth occupied by some close friends. We decided to take full advantage of that and push our tents together to create one giant shoppe. Margaux, Walter and Liane just happen to have an aesthetic very similar to my own so everything worked perfectly together. I couldn't have asked for better people to spend the weekend next to.

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who came out and said hello and to all who purchased a bag. One of the best parts of these fairs is being able to meet people face to face and getting the chance to personally hand them their new bag. That's one huge downer of selling your wares through the internet - no face time! So again - thank you thank you.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST

Just finished sewing my last bag for the weekend. I've had this one in the back of my mind for months now -- came across some beautiful little boy's britches from the 1920's and wanted to pair them with something equally as beautiful. I've been wanting to line a bag with deerskin for a long time and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

The deerskin brings it to a whole new level - so incredibly soft and luxurious. It will be available this weekend at Renegade.

(These were the britches before I took them apart, did a few minor repairs, and transformed them into the above bag.)

RENEGADE PREVIEW

I've been hard at work over the past few weeks making as many bags as humanly possible. A few new styles, lots of leather detailing, and an abundance of beautiful old canvas.

About 80 of my one of a kind bags will be available this weekend at Renegade Brooklyn. I'll be in a larger-than-usual tent with good friends Liane, Margaux and Walter. Come say hi!
