GRAIN SACKS

A few new bags made out of 1940's era canvas grain sacks. Available HERE and HERE.

THURSDAY APRIL 29

Love coming across old images of canvas bags. Especially the ones from the early 1900's of mail bags being printed. Can't get much better than that.

TUESDAY APRIL 27

Came across a real nice WWII era US Navy uniform this past weekend that was in perfect condition - still with original tags. Transformed the jumper into the above bag.

Incorporated the original printing, pocket, and some stitching. Lined with sturdy striped fabric, shoulder straps and buckle made with supple dark brown leather. Buckle salvaged from a WWII era military belt. Available here.

(Totally forgot to take a before picture in my pre-coffee state this morning. The below image is what the jumper originally looked like.)

GREATEST FRIEND

So bummed that these boots from the 30's are a bit too small for my feet. You can find them in Angela's Etsy shop here.

Extra large carryall -- WWII era canvas laundry bag outer. Blue & white striped liner. Military issue cotton webbing handles and adjustable/removable shoulder strap. Leather buckle closure. Great weekend/beach bag. Available here.

THURSDAY APRIL 22

One of my most practical recent flea market finds -- old military issue grommet setter and three bags of grommets. Will most definitely start incorporating these into bags very soon.

FDW

Came across this old canvas covered trunk a few weeks ago at an antique store in NH and it was love at first sight. I would have paid a pretty penny for this thing but I got lucky it was an incredible bargain.

So many great details on this one -- the monogramming, leather handles, a bunch of still functional compartments, old pictures hung inside, etc etc. A tag on the side tells me that at some point during the 1890's it was a on a ship from New York to Fall River, MA.

MONDAY APRIL 19

WWII era duffel bag outer (a good amount of printing on both the front and the back). Soft brown leather shoulder straps, buckle, and bottom reinforcement. Available here.

FRIDAY APRIL 16

New tags that are now included with every Forestbound bag. Many thanks to Katharine for helping with the design.

WWII era canvas outer. Canvas outside pockets. WWII era leather belting shoulder straps. Sturdy striped liner. Available here.

-- The WWII leather belting used for the straps on this bag is some of the best that I've ever come across. This is the last of it that will be available in my online shop. --

THURSDAY APRIL 15

A few new sturdy canvas bags up in my Etsy shop today. Available here.

OPENING WEEKEND

Opening day for my favorite New England flea market was this past Sunday. So happy to have it back - feels like a part of me that's been missing all winter has finally returned.

Came away with a car full of good finds - lots of materials for bag making (which I may post about later this week), a real nice leather bag that will look even better after some saddle soap and neetsfoot oil, a whole pile of old, unused, small notebooks -- and a few other treasures not pictured. This was a real good way to start the season.

TUESDAY APRIL 13

My Etsy shop has been pretty sparse over the past week or two but I'm going to be working on filling it up again throughout this week. Added these two new tote bags this afternoon. Available here.

Bottoms of all the tote bags have been reinforced with an incredibly beautiful and soft brown leather. All tote bags also feature comfortable leather shoulder straps and a buckle closure.

5 bags available at 4pm on Sunday April 11 HERE.
