you know how there are some moments where things just fall into place and everything seems to go just right? well, very early this morning i experienced just that. i've been on the hunt for the perfect wool blanket for what seems like years now. a hudson bay blanket has always been at the top of my list but i just could never bring myself to pay what they go for on ebay. but then while wandering around the flea market earlier today this beauty stopped me in my tracks. this was by far one of my favorite flea market moments. it's exactly what i've been looking for! i even love the little bit of shabbiness on the edges. i have a feeling this blanket is going to go everywhere with me over the next six months.
i think i have an unhealthy obsession with blankets. i was very close to bringing home 3 army blankets and 2 camp blankets just today. who needs that many blankets? along with the hudson bay i let myself purchase just this one army blanket.. i don't see many with names printed on them! and cotton hemming!

oh and let's not forget about quilts. like many others i have a soft spot for nice old quilts. francesca and i stumbled upon this one a few weeks ago while spending the weekend on cape cod and i just couldn't leave it behind. it quickly became one of my most treasured possessions (in part due to how incredible it smells now that francesca washed it up nice for me!). the colors are perfect and there's even all this beautiful hand printing.. which i can only assume to be the names of the ladies who took part in sewing the quilt many years ago.
okay that's enough about blankets for one day. i have a blog post lined up for tomorrow that will give a little sneak peak of the bags i'll have for my shop re-opening later this week. oh and there will be more details about the actual day and time of the re-opening.. i still haven't quite figured that part out yet!

they are so so lovely, i love all your very handmade mixed and reused works. wish someday i can afford to bring one home with me. and i can understand how you feel of everything going to the right places, it's something i'm experiencing lately in my life as well.
have a nice and fun week !
:)
i used to have a blanket from the Tennessee woolen mills. it was dreamy. i can't find any anywhere.
what treasures! i'm swooning over the army blanket with the stenciled name.
Ah! Dreamy, dreamy! Old quilts really are the most wonderful things ever--I just recently got one over the summer of all different patchwork feedsack fabrics and one of the fabrics has a boy blowing bubbles and playing with a dog! Yours takes the cake though--hand written names by the ladies who sewed it! Too good to be true! xx
I too have an affinity for blankets. I even love peggy square crochet and knitted blankets. Your work is amazing. I'm in awe every time I pass this way and await each post eagerly.
